The Site

So how did this little site come to be? You must be bored if you're reading this but hey I'll humour you! The first time I saw a trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean I knew the film was really going to be something - unfortunately for me they started showing trailers in England at least 3 months before it was released so I had months of waiting to see the film. Now I'll confess the first time I went to see the film the main motivating factor was Orlando Bloom. I literally walked out of the cinema in a daze, completely dumbfounded, in awe of the fantastic performance Johnny Depp gave as Jack Sparrow. He'd completely stolen the film for me. I mean what a fantastic character?! So as I was saying me in a daze! Luckily a lot of my online friends felt the same way and began begging and pleading for a Johnny Depp message board at a celebrity message board website, which we eventually got I might add. So great stuff, a Johnny Depp message board but I was still completely enamoured with the character of Jack Sparrow. There was no getting around it; I'd have to build a Jack Sparrow shrine. A creative outlet for my budding obsession and thus But Why Is The Rum Gone? was born in late August, 2003.

The Future

But Why Is The Rum Gone? is going NOWHERE! It's been more than three years now since Pirates of the Caribbean was released and sadly in that time many fansites have disappeared from the web. This section is just to say that this site will not be one of them.

Now what can I tell you about your dear Captain! Well for starters my name: Emily. My birthday's on the 3rd of April just in case you were wondering when to send all the presents! I've always been a fan of Johnny Depp, well actually that not entirely true... As a kid I was a huge fan, especially of Edward Scissor Hands then over the years I kind of lost track of him, but POTC changed all that as you can imagine. Since this is the Me section I'm afraid I can't pass up the opportunity to plug my darling personal domain cha-otical. Enough about me though, away with you, go explore the site some more!
